Indigenes of Ukwa West Local Government(Asa) have towed the line of their Ukwa East brethren(Ndoki people) East in pledging to deliver Governor Okezie Ikpeazu as the governor of Abia State at the 2019 general elections.
Following the adoption of the Governor, Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, by their sister Local Government Ukwa East, the people of Ukwa West have sworn to ensure that Governor Ikpeazu is re-elected again.
They also promised that all their votes will go to the lineup of candidates paraded by the PDP for the various elective posts in the forthcoming polls.
At a political rally put together by the
State Women Central Campaign Committee, with Mrs. Nkechi Ikpeazu as its arrowhead, the People of Asa said they are united in their resolve to ensure that development brought about by the Okezie Ikpeazu administration is not abridged midway by the emergence of another government.
They emphasized that for the sake of equity, Ikpeazu should be allowed to complete eight-year tenure.
They further condemn in strong terms
the persistent pressure from the people of other zones who are working against equity, and promised to resist it.

Dr. Godwin Adiele,PDP candidate for Ukwa west state constituency, Former member of old Imo State House of Assembly Lady Victoria Akanwa, former Commissioner for Public Utilities, Mrs Chidinma Nwogu, and Chief Sam Nwogu who is Chairman of ASOPADEC, all concurred that Ukwa West, which is an oil producing LGA, has benefited immensely from Ikpeazu’s administration, assured the Governor of their 100% votes.
Mrs Beatrice Nwoko who is coordinator of campaign in Ukwa west and a woman leader and Mrs. Comfort Jike, praised the wife of the Governor for building markets, training and empowering 100 indigenes of Ukwa land with skills, equipment and capital; and for providing scholarship for the people of ukwa especially women across the many communities.
In her appreciation speech, Mrs. Ikpeazu assured the Asa people that more democratic dividends are coming their way. She said micro-credit scheme for farmers and traders will be expanded to cover the ASA people adding that they will have no regrets voting candidates of the PDP.
She urged the people in the area to ensure they vote peacefully and that their votes are counted emphasizing that no life is worth losing in the election.
The wife of the the Deputy Governor, Lady Vivian Chukwu, were among the dignitaries that accompanied the wife of the Governor Mrs Nkechi Ikpeazu.
